Robot Modeling and Control - Mark W. Spong

"The coverage is unparalleled in both depth and breadth. No other text that I have seen offers a better complete overview of modern robotic manipulation and robot control."-- Bradley Bishop, United States Naval Academy
Based on the highly successful classic, Robot Dynamics and Control, by Spong and Vidyasagar (Wiley, 1989), Robot Modeling and Control offers a thoroughly up-to-date, self-contained introduction to the field. The text presents basic and advanced material in a style that is at once readable and mathematically rigorous.
Key Features* A step-by-step computational approach helps you derive and compute the forward kinematics, inverse kinematics, and Jacobians for the most common robot designs.* Detailed coverage of vision and visual servo control enables you to program robots to manipulate objects sensed by cameras.* An entire chapter on dynamics prepares you to compute the dynamics of the most common manipulator designs.* The most common motion planning and trajectory generation algorithms are presented in an elementary style.* The comprehensive treatment of motion and force control includes both basic and advanced methods.* The text's treatment of geometric nonlinear control is more readable than in more advanced texts.* Many worked examples and an extensive list of problems illustrate all aspects of the theory.About the authors

Fundamentals of Robotic Mechanical Systems Theory Methods and Algorithms - J.Angeles 2nd edition

Modern robotics dates from the late 1960s, when progress in the development of microprocessors made possible the computer control of a multiaxial manipulator. Since then, robotics has evolved to connect with many branches of science and engineering, including electronics, mechanical design, and control engineering, and to encompass such diverse fields as computer vision, artificial intelligence, and speech recognition. This book deals with robots---such as remote manipulators, multifingered hands, walking machines, flight simulators, and machine tools---that rely on mechanical systems to perform their tasks. It aims to establish the foundations on which the design, control and implementation of the underlying mechanical systems are based. The treatment assumes familiarity with some calculus, linear algebra, and elementary mechanics; however, the elements of rigid-body mechanics and of linear transformations are reviewed in the first chapters, making the presentation self-contained. An extensive set of exercises is included. Topics covered include: kinematics and dynamics of serial manipulators with decoupled architectures; trajectory planning; determination of the angular velocity and angular acceleration of a rigid body from point data; inverse and direct kinematics manipulators; dynamics of general parallel manipulators of the platform type; and the kinematics and dynamics of rolling robots.
